Cepea, 5/03/2025 – Corn prices continue to post significant gains in most of the regions tracked by Cepea. At the close of February, the ESALQ/BM&FBovespa index (Campinas – SP base) was already trading around R$ 87,00/60 kg bag. According to Cepea researchers, the increases are due to greater buyer presence in the spot market, logistics difficulties and low domestic stocks. In this regard, Cepea researchers point out that Brazilian stocks are low, and not even the advancing summer-crop harvest has raised domestic availability. According to Conab data, carryover stocks at the end of January 2025 were just 2,1 million tonnes, a sharp 70% below the previous year's level of 7,2 million tonnes.
